Our Vision
Hei whakahihiri, hei whakaako me te whakanui.
To inspire, educate and celebrate.
Mirek Smíšek’s iconic beehive kilns at Te Horo were a hub of ceramic excellence for more than 40 years. We have restored his legacy by preserving the kilns, the land and buildings and becoming a unique community hub again – for future inspiration, education and celebration. There is native bush to explore, a resident potter working on site, kiln-firings, exhibitions, events and more through-out the year.
It is managed by The Mirek Smíšek Arts Trust - a charitable trust.
The Kilns at Te Horo is an exciting visitor destination for the Kapiti Coast.
